Ethernet, in computer science, a local area network (LAN) system developed by the Xerox corporation in 1976, originally for linking minicomputers at the Palo Alto Research Center. A widely implemented network from which computer industry standards for networks were developed, Ethernet uses a bus configuration and relies on the form of access known as CSMA/CD to regulate traffic on the main communication line. Network nodes are connected by coaxial cable (in either of two varieties, known as thin and thick) or by twisted-pair wiring. Thin Ethernet cabling is 5 mm ( 1/5 in) in diameter and can connect network stations over a distance of 300 m (1,000 ft); thick Ethernet cabling is 1 cm ( 1/3 in) in diameter and can connect stations up to 1,000 m (3,300 ft) apart. Information on an Ethernet network is sent in variable-length frames containing delivery and control information plus up to 1,500 bytes of data. The original Ethernet standard provides for baseband transmission at 10 megabits (10 million bits) per second. Cablelink manufacture and supply a comprehensive range of cable assemblies for the professional broadcast and audio visual market.

Only the highest quality components are used in the manufacture of our assemblies and where manufacturer specific cables are required, the components we use are approved by the relevant OEM’s. At Cablelink we work in partnership with our customers to ensure the products they receive from us fully meet even the most exacting specifications and standards.

We supply a comprehensive range of professional grade Sony compatible cable assemblies which we are able to supply in any length. Cables such as the RM-B150-150, CCZ-A and CCZQ 26 and 14 pin studio cables, CCA-5 and CCA-7, RM-P9 and RCC-30G remote control cables as well as the CCU camera class CCT, CCRZ cables and CCQ 14 pin video cables.

We have also added the full range of DVI-A, DVI-D and DVI-I assemblies plus HDMI cables to our A/V data-base. As we also supply VGA/SVGA cable assemblies as part of our standard data assembly range, we are able to offer hybrid composite DVI, HDMI, SVGA and BNC terminated multi-core cables. We are also able to offer cable types such as the composite copper/fibre SMTPE 311M cable which is used in some HDTV systems.

When necessary, we are able to manufacture our assemblies to order within tight time-scales in order to ensure we meet your deadlines and that you in turn can meet yours.

As we custom build our assemblies, we can cater for any specific lengths and slight build variations according to your own requirements; and because our staff have many years experience in the manufacture of broadcast assemblies, we are often able to manufacture what are considered to be ‘obsolescent’ cables for use with older equipment.
